GETZVILLE, N.Y. 鈥?A Getzville, New York, neighborhood came together Monday morning in an effort to help get a neighbor to the hospital.The Getzville Fire Company said a resident of Forestview Drive had a medical emergency and needed to get to the hospital immediately. Still, the entire street was impassable due to snow. That s when neighbors jumped into action. The fire company said as volunteer firefighters provided aid to the individual, neighbors came outside with snowblowers and shovels and coul stanley cup d clear a path to an ambulance waiting at the end of the street. HELENA About 40 members of the Montana National Guard were hard at work at Fort Harrison Friday, preparing for the states next major fire. They were taking part in a Red Card training program, to get certified as wildland firefighters. We had quite a bit of classroom time to give us the foundation, said Sgt. Ryan Wagnild. Now were in the field getting hands-on familiarization, to drive what we learn in the classroom home. During the weeklong program, the guardsmen went through exercises like the pack test, where they had to hike three miles in 45 min air max 1 utes while carrying a 45-pound pack. On Friday, they practiced creatin yeezy g a control line with hand tools, using a drip torch to set a backfire, and protecting themselves using a fir adidas og e shelter.The guardsmen went through the training in their typical camouflage uniforms. Instructors said they were expecting full sets of fire-resistant clothing for them, but that the items hadnt arrived in time and they needed to continue the program.The Red Card training is organized through the Guard, the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and Montana Disaster and Emergency Services.
