The nation s largest student-run farmers market is happening today in Las Vegas. More than 600 fifth grade students from 50 schools throughout Southern Nevada will lead the market.The kids help build the gardens, plant seeds, harvest crops, and sell produce at their schools. The fruit and vegetables sold a stanley cup t the farmer s market were taken from local school gardens and 800 trees planted at Clark County schools. The farmers market is hosted by Green Our Planet, an organization that strives to keep the environment clean and teach kids the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The money raised today at the farmers market will be reinvested back into Clark County School District s garden program.
